Last week, low-pressure system Petra, with peak wind speeds up to 170 km/h, passed over Switzerland and, in the process also caused considerable damage to overhead cables.
The technical teams repaired 95 per cent of the damage within 48 hours after receiving notification.
As a consequence of the low-pressure system, the number of fault notifications doubled in the St. Gallen region. Five teams were deployed for the entire week exclusively to deal with the storm damage. But, the balance at the end of the day was positive in the region. The technical teams repaired 95 per cent of the damage within 48 hours after receiving notification.
The three-person operations team from St. Gallen replaced this broken overhead cable tower within three hours (including driving time). The damaged tower was removed and the new tower put into the 1.3 metre deep foundation and wedged in place without any mechanical support. Afterwards, the new cable was put up again. Internet and telephone functions were not affected, because the electrical cable was undamaged.
