From thermographic scan to damage repair - everything from a single source.

cablex uses thermal imaging technology to test electrical installations. Specially trained employees analyse and document the results of the respective thermographic images. When these images point to a defect in the particular installation, the customer benefits from the fact that cablex can provide the required experts needed to repair the damage quickly and reliably.

The use of thermal imaging technology by cablex to document and verify the correct installation of 50 switch cabinets and distribution systems in the CEVA project was a real success.

The thermal imaging technology was used for the first time at the request of SBB during the CEVA project. In this project, cablex installed the high and low voltage systems in five railway stations along the Cornavin-Eaux-Vives-Annemasse line. It was also responsible for video surveillance and fire alarm systems as well as lighting and the power and optical fibre networks.

How do measurements with a thermal imaging camera work?

An incorrectly installed or defective electrical cable loses energy at the contact point, which in turn generates heat. Heat radiation is invisible to the human eye, because the wavelength of this radiation is in the infrared range. The thermograph measures the infrared radiation and converts it into a light spectrum that is visible to the human eye - a so-called thermal image.
