Apprenticeship training in the area of overhead cables is an integral part of the course programme of the cablex Academy.

cablex Academy.

The cablex Academy offers an extensive range of technical, safety and management courses that teach specific skills in the areas of network construction, service and installation, with the focus being placed on the area of network construction for telecommunications. Another area of activity is the recruitment and training of new instructors, both for the internal specialist courses, as well as for branch-related courses covering the basic training for network electricians with a focus on telecommunications.

Next Generation.

This pillar of the educational institution stands for basic vocational training. Each year 15-20 trainees and apprentices are supported with their training and prepared for the qualification process. A total of 50-60 learners will complete their basic training at cablex this year. They are supported directly by the apprenticeship trainers on site. Professional Training is responsible for the technical management of the apprenticeship trainers, for overseeing the branch-related courses and for the implementation of the qualification process for network electricians with a focus on telecommunications.

Extensive range of courses.

Technical and instructional courses.

cablex offers technical and instructional courses , which can be booked by cablex employees as well as by interested external parties. The technical focus of these courses is on splicing and measurement technology courses for network construction in the telecommunications area with copper or Fox (optical fibre cabling). The cablex Academy is recognised by the Swiss network infrastructure association for communication, energy, transport and ICT (SNiv) as an authorised training establishment (Link is only available in German).

The entire course portfolio includes about 30 different courses with over 350 course days per year. The courses take place in cablex's own training facilities in Oftringen, at the cablex locations or in external facilities.

Safety and specialist courses.

The safety courses for internal employees are designed by our Business Excellence division and run by the cablex Academy. For specific technical courses, cablex also cooperates with external providers who specialise in teaching the relevant content.

During our safety courses, training in relation to rescue activities in the event of possible accidents while working on wooden masts is carried out.

Further education and training.

Further education and training for team leaders, construction foremen and other management activities are also covered by the range of courses. These courses are advertised and held internally at Swisscom via the One Swisscom Academy (OSA). Link is only available in German.

Our specialists at cablex.

cablex is a manual trade enterprise and employs specialists for the construction, maintenance and operation of high-performance ICT and network infrastructure solutions. Our specialists for the construction sites are recruited from the areas of network electrics, electrical installations, measurement technology or assembly. Temporary employees and career changers receive retraining at cablex to prepare them for future tasks in the area of network construction.

Specialists are also deployed on a daily basis for preparatory work and follow-up activities, as well as on-site service at the customer sites. These employees come from the areas of service technology, mediamatics, information technology or engineering.

Prospects for the future for Professional Training.

cablex is the largest Swiss network infrastructure builder and is recognised by the cantonal vocational training association as a training company. The following training courses are offered: Network Electrician (with a focus on Telecommunications) with Swiss Federal Certificate of Proficiency (EFZ), Electrician with Swiss Federal Certificate of Proficiency (EFZ) and Assembly Electrician. cablex has its own company collective employment agreement, which in many respects is even more attractive than the industry's CEA. Our motto is similar to that of the Federation: "Kein Abschluss ohne Anschluss" (no dead-end qualifications).

Basic vocational training also includes branch-related training courses.

The EduQua certificate.

cablex is pursuing the goal of obtaining EduQua certification, a certification standard for educational institutions that is recognized throughout Switzerland. This seal of approval certifies the quality and sustainability of the educational institute. Criteria for obtaining the certification include the "customer orientation" of the offering and the methodological and didactic qualifications of the instruction personnel. The EduQua certificate will confirm that cablex is a reliable Swiss partner for education and training in the area of network construction.

Higher vocational training and education.

cablex actively supports the development of higher vocational training and education for network electricians who focus on telecommunications. Working groups throughout Switzerland are developing a range of courses with training modules for further education and training, in order to qualify as a Network Specialist with Swiss Federal Certificate of Proficiency. The structure of higher vocational education and training is similar to that of other sectors (such as electrical engineering, construction or logistics). Persons with this higher level qualification can take on roles as group or team leaders.

The next level is the Advanced Federal Diploma of Higher Education examination (HFP), which is needed in order to qualify as a Network Expert with Federal Diploma. Persons with this qualification can take on roles related to the management of network infrastructure projects as well as employees in general. Interaction with different stakeholder groups requires sound people and leadership skills.

Thanks to the professional and committed effort of the Professional Training team and other internal and external employees, it will be possible to achieve these goals in the near future.
