click! - the cablex newsletter.

Our new “click!” newsletter invites you to dip into the world of cablex at the click of a button. If you want to find out what role cablex is playing in the Ceneri Base Tunnel or where we acquired the title of Swiss Champions, in future you will discover all of this with one click on “click!” – the new cablex newsletter.

One quarter of 2016 is already behind us. As a result of the mild winter weather we were able to get started on scheduled projects unexpectedly early, and successfully acquire some new strategic orders.

To cope with all of this we are reliant on well trained personnel. And to ensure that we have them we rely on our own new blood - our trainees.

When we think about trainees today, we have the image of teenagers in mind. cablex is currently training around 80 apprentices. But not all of them started their apprenticeships after their obligatory time at school. We have 21 trainees within the company who have already completed one apprenticeship and are taking a second apprenticeship with us. Mirco completed an apprenticeship as a forest ranger and has now decided at the age of 27 to go back to school and take an apprenticeship as an electrician with the Swiss Federal Certificate of Proficiency (EFZ). Here you can read what that means for him.

For us as a company it is extremely important to offer apprenticeships and in that way to help to make Switzerland an attractive place to work. We need excellently trained and motivated specialists to plan, construct and maintain the (grid) infrastructures of the future. We explain here today which three apprenticeships can be taken at cablex and what qualifications are necessary for them. And because we are extremely interested in acquiring new blood, we are once again involved in the Information Technology Days of the Canton of Zurich. So that potential recruits can experience the types of job we offer, from 3 to 4 June 2016, we will be showing anyone interested exactly what we do and what future opportunities our jobs represent. Make an appointment and visit us in Zurich Albisrieden.

cablex also needs excellently qualified employees in major projects, such as the construction of the Monte Ceneri Base Tunnel. As a result of the complexity and unique nature of this construction project, it has to be controlled and implemented with foresight and professionalism. So I am particularly pleased to be able to introduce Johannes Werninger in this newsletter. He is undertaking overall coordination as part of the consortium ARGE cpc (cablex - Porr - Condotte) in the Ceneri Base Tunnel. In interview he told us how that came about and what sort of challenges he had to overcome.

Click smart. We hope you find the newsletter exciting and entertaining and, who knows, perhaps we'll meet up to have a chat at the IT Days in Zurich or at the duathlon in Zofingen.

After an apprenticeship in forestry, Mirco Michael starts a second one with cablex.

Mirco Michael (27) has already completed an apprenticeship as a forester and worked in this occupation for 6 years. However, in his professional work, Mirco missed out on opportunities for further development. He therefore decided, based on recommendations by colleagues, to start a second apprenticeship as an electrician with Swiss Federal Certificate of Proficiency (EFZ) at cablex in Trimmis. Read the interview to find out what it is like to return to the classroom as a 27-year-old apprentice learning alongside other apprentices more than 10 years younger.
