Grossbaustelle in Schwamendingen

The watchful eye in the night.

One of the busiest roads in the Zurich area - with 120,000 vehicles per day - runs through the middle of a residential neighbourhood. The superstructure building activities along the 1.6-kilometre stretch of the N01/40 motorway has been ongoing since 2018. On behalf of FEDRO, under the main BSA construction management of INGE B2H (HDZ Elektroingenieure AG / Basler & Hofmann AG), cablex is responsible for the installation management of the operating and safety equipment (BSA) during the night shifts.

The term "enclosure" is used when a tunnel is created by enclosing a road in an open-cast working method with construction elements. The tunnels are not therefore created by drilling or blasting. The enclosure in Zurich-Schwamendingen will improve the quality of life in the neighbourhood through reduced noise pollution, less air pollution and more green and open spaces due to the newly created park on top of the enclosure.

The tasks of cablex.

Alexandra Hoffman is one of nine cablex employees who have been assigned to the installation management team for this major project. The experience from large-scale projects like this one remains within the company and the knowledge is passed on internally, which benefits the customers of future projects.

Statement Enos Pizio, Team Leader Infrastructure:

"Entrusting cablex AG with installation management for the BSA activities was a very innovative approach on the part of FEDRO and the overall project manager Rolf Eberle. We appreciate the trust in allowing us to help shape such a complex project as the Schwamendingen enclosure (EHS), where the teams worked towards the common goal with a great deal of commitment and heart and soul. And that's exactly what our team does night after night. It gives us great pleasure and pride to be involved in such an important project for FEDRO and the city of Zurich, and to be able to support the entire EHS project team with their tasks".

Rolf Eberle, Project Manager Federal Roads Office FEDRO says about the cooperation with cablex:

"By adding cablex to our project team, we have gained a competent partner who will make an active and lasting contribution to the success of the project."
