The major contract with cablex described here includes the installation of over 400,000 intelligent electricity meters, known as smart meters, by the end of 2028. That amounts to around 500 meter changes per day. cablex was selected by BKW Energie AG back in 2024 as the partner for the installation of the household meters. The order encompasses the entire area served by the energy supplier.
We have over 40 technicians on the road throughout Bernese Oberland, Bernese Mittelland, Oberaargau/Solothurn and Jura/Seeland replacing electricity meters in private households and businesses. The coordination of this large-scale installation project requires careful planning and logistical precision, and every installation must comply exactly with the technical specifications and safety standards.
A meter change usually takes no longer than an hour, depending on the circumstances, and entails a brief power interruption of around 15 minutes during installation. Our technical teams have been trained by BKW to meet their needs and standards, while the technical expertise and solid dedication are supplied by our colleagues themselves.
Notification process (scheduling team).
It is important to choose a suitable time window for the installations that minimises disruption to customers' daily routines. Written notification is sent by our scheduling team one to three-and-a-half weeks before the visit, and requests for postponements are coordinated by the scheduling department.
