To find out more about the inspections and the wide range of activities in the field, a colleague from the communications team at cablex accompanied a safety expert. Safety inspections are currently being stepped up to ensure everyone’s protection during the pandemic.
We can say one thing in advance: the half-day assignment generated only positive results. Where are inspections carried out?
Eight internal safety experts carry out inspections at all cablex locations as well as in the field. The inspections reveal that the work-from-home obligation is being followed, as the offices are virtually empty. Safety at the construction sites is properly ensured and the measures to protect against the corona virus are being complied with.
What is inspected?
At every security inspection, compliance with the safety rules is checked with the aid of a check list. The photos taken as evidence are assigned to the corresponding inspections and archived.
- PPE (personal protective equipment) check
- various spot-checks, such as checking for the presence of the emergency card and the safety passport
- inspection of company vehicles as well as tyre profile and load securing checks
- equipment maintenance condition check
In addition to the normal safety inspections, checks are carried out to see if the measures to protect against the corona virus are being followed. Employees’ level of awareness is assessed. Checks are also carried out as to whether disposable gloves, hygiene or FFP2 masks, protective goggles and disinfectant are present and whether these are used or worn correctly.
